Product Description
The Ford EcoBoost engine is in wide use by Ford and it comes in a variety of displacements and configurations. Technicians need to understand how the engine control system uses valve timing, air management, and direct injection fuel control to generate the high power available. Special techniques are needed to determine the cause of fuel control or low boost faults.
The goal of this class is to prepare the aftermarket technician to diagnose and repair driveability problems on Ford EcoBoost equipped engines. We will present diagnostic scenarios including misfire, boost faults, air and fuel control faults, and EVAP codes using real world examples. We will also demonstrate components replacement best practices.
After completing this class, a technician will be able to:
- Identify EcoBoost engines and components
- Diagnose boost control faults
- Diagnose misfires
- Diagnose EVAP codes
- Diagnose high pressure direct injection faults
- Analyze scan data for diagnosis
- Acquire and analyze scope waveforms for diagnosis
